Imphal, 22 June (IANS). There is a steady increase in the case of Kovid-19 in Manipur. The virus was confirmed in 33 people on Sunday, leading to the total number of cases in the Northeast state to 145.
Health officials said 101 samples were examined on Sunday and 33 samples were found positive for Kovid-19 in three districts, Imphal West (27), Imphal East (3) and Thobal (3). According to officials, out of a total of 145 positive cases till Sunday, 103 came in Imphal West district, 29 in Infal East district, six in Thobal district, four in Bishnupur, two in Tangnaul and one in Kakching district.
The remaining five districts come to the Imphal Valley area, except the tribal -dominated Tenganaul district.
The first case of Kovid in Manipur this year came to light on 9 June, when a 23-year-old woman confirmed Kovid-19. The first case was the first case in the Northeast State in the current wave of Kornavirus infection.
Currently, the Kovid-19 positivity rate in Manipur is 32.7 percent. Overall, 122 people with covid positive cases are in home Quarrant.
Manipur Health Services Director Chambo Gonmei said that the woman hails from Bishnupur district and developed symptoms like Kovid. On June 5, his samples were examined at a private clinic in Imphal and the results came on 9 June. Gonmei appealed to the people to be vigilant in view of the spread of infection in other parts of the country.
Meanwhile, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla presided over the Kovid-19 review meeting at the first Raj Bhavan. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh, Senior Medical Officer of State Health Department and other officials.
Amid the increasing concerns of Kovid-19’s re-emergence, the Recent reviews were reviewed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. A Raj Bhavan official said that the health officials informed the governor about the preparations for the state, including diagnosis, protective equipment, oxygen supply, ICU and isolation wards, essential medicines and integrated disease monitoring program-ecclesiating health information platform portals. The challenges related to testing capacity, medical supply and hospital preparation were also discussed.
Officials said that Governor Bhalla emphasized the importance of active measures, adequate medical infrastructure and community awareness to ensure that the state affairs were equipped to deal with any possible bounce in the state affairs.
