Port Sudan, November 21 (IANS). Nearly 46 people have died in a village in Sudan due to alleged attacks and diseases by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This information was given by a medical source and a volunteer group.
According to the report of Xinhua news agency, a medical source at a hospital located near Wad Ashib village in Gezira state said that “during Tuesday and Wednesday, the hospital received the bodies of 21 people. All of them died due to the RSF attack on the village.” Hui.
Meanwhile, the Nidaa al-Wasat Platform, a volunteer group that monitors human rights violations in central Sudan, said in a statement that the village had been surrounded by RSF, disrupting medical and food supplies, resulting in the deaths of 25 people so far. Death has occurred.
RSF has not made any comment regarding the alleged attacks.
Activists and volunteer groups have accused the RSF of carrying out a series of attacks on Gezira since its commander Abu Aqla Keykel surrendered to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on October 20.
The Gezira Conference, a local non-governmental group, said in its latest report that the death toll in the town of Al-Hilaliyya in Gezira had risen to 537. A report published on 14 November by the International Organization for Migration stated that approximately 343,473 individuals or 68,801 families were displaced from various locations in Gezira State from 20 October to 13 November.
Sudan has been in the grip of a devastating conflict between the SAF and the RSF since mid-April 2023. According to the latest data from the Armed Conflict Location and Data Project, there have been more than 27,120 deaths in this deadly conflict.
Since the conflict began, epidemics of cholera, malaria, measles and dengue fever have spread, killing hundreds of people.
According to the latest IOM estimates, more than 14 million people have been displaced inside or outside Sudan due to the conflict.
