New Delhi, 11 April (IANS). The CSR initiative of Adani Group on Friday announced a partnership with the foundation stone Trust to expand the Reenal Care Project at Lady Harding Medical College (LHMC) in the national capital.

One of the educational institutions of LHMC is an important step towards strengthening the dialysis care in the Public Health Care Infrastructure in Delhi, Mrs. Sucheta Kripalani Hospital.

Starting in May 2024, the project aims to provide 5,00,000 free dialysis sessions in five years.

With this expansion, Mrs. Sucheta Kripalani Hospital will get five dialysis machines for adult patients. In addition, Adani CSR initiative will bear the operational cost of these machines for one year.

Nina Jolly, a trustee of the foundation stone, said, “This initiative is extremely personal and necessary. Many families struggle when they face kidney disease, whether they are adults or children. Through this partnership, we are not only giving machines or sessions – we are showing with reaching and capacity building that when civil society, philanthropy and public arrangements are served to those who are most possible.”

He said, “assuming that these machines are used with full capacity, we will make Delhi Nephroscope strong with 20,000 dialysis sessions every year.”

According to the 2023 report of the EY-NATHelth, there are about 2.2 lakh new cases in India every year, which requires more than 3.4 crore dialysis sessions.

There are about 22,500 dialysis machines in the country, which meet less than 25 percent of the total demand.

The report estimates that a sufficient service of the growing patient Aadhaar requires at least 65,000 dialysis centers and more than 20,000 trained technicians and nephrologists.

It also highlights that the public sector dialysis infrastructure, especially for pediatric care, remains severely low resources.

In Delhi NCR alone, about 3,000 new ESRD patients emerge every year.

However, dialysis capacity in hospitals may not be limited or intelligent for most patients, which limits the duration of care options available to patients and their families.

The foundation stone reneel care project meets the significant reduction of dialysis access to Delhi-NCR.

The project improves renewal care service in government hospitals by providing strategic partnership and liberal donor support by providing project dialysis machines, trained technicians and necessary equipment.

It serves both adult and child patients in several institutes including Safdarjung Hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Lady Harding Medical College, Kalavati Saran Children Hospital, Mrs. Sucheta Kripalani Hospital and Surgical Block in AIIMS.

The project has already arranged 30 dialysis machines and more than 16 technicians in several government hospitals in Delhi through philanthropic support.

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, Mrs. Sucheta Kripalani Hospital and Kalavati Saran Children Hospital have given about 8,500 dialysis sessions so far.

The program was attended by prominent dignitaries. Among them, Shishir Priyadarshi, President of Chintan Research Foundation, Director of LHMC and Associated Hospitals Prof. (Dr.) Sarita Berry, founder trustee Neena Jolly and Geeta Arora, founder of Adharshila Trust. In addition, there was also a presence of other senior healthcare officers and chief nephrology experts.

Among the distinguished guests, former Judge of India’s Supreme Court Justice Deepak Verma and Jatin R.K. Jalundhwala was involved.
