New Delhi, 7 February (IANS). After successful campaigns carrying medicinal plants like Amla, Moringa, Giloy and Ashwagandha, the Ministry of AYUSH has launched a new campaign to convey the benefits of beneficial asparagus for health.
To raise awareness about the health benefits of medicinal plants, Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Prataprao Jadhav on Thursday launched the ‘Asparagus-Better Health’ campaign under a species-specific campaign.
Prataprao Jadhav posted on the social media platform X. In the post, he wrote, today I launched the campaign ‘Shatavari-better health’ in New Delhi under the Ministry of AYUSH. This campaign has been started keeping in mind the health of women, which is an important step towards the Panch Prana target. The Ministry of AYUSH has made unprecedented progress in the last 10 years. Awareness campaigns have also been conducted on Amla, Moringa, Giloy and Ashwagandha before the efforts of the National Medicine Plant Board. Financial assistance of Rs 18.9 lakh will be provided by the National Medicine Plant Board to promote medicinal importance of asparagus and its agricultural economy.
Prataprao Jadhav also emphasized the relevance of asparagus in achieving the Panch Pran target mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech on the occasion of Independence Day on 15 August 2022. The Prime Minister has envisaged to make the country a developed nation till the 100th Independence Day of India in 2047. Under this mission, the asparagus plant has been identified as a major resource for women’s health care in India. It is associated with the extensive goal of overall welfare of citizens.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, explained in detail about NMPB activities and achievements in promoting medicinal plants. He also shared information about the Central Area Scheme for conservation, growth and sustainable management of medicinal plants, which is an initiative associated with long -term protection and farming of important medicinal species including asparagus.
