After Jhansi fire, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak held a meeting with higher officials, said - 'negligence will not be accepted'

Lucknow, November 18 (IANS). After the fire at Maharani Laxmibai Medical College in Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak held a meeting with top officials of the Health and Medical Department in Lucknow on Monday. The seriousness of the fire incident was discussed in the meeting and necessary steps were taken regarding security arrangements in hospitals across the state.

After the meeting, Brajesh Pathak addressed the press conference. During this, the Deputy Chief Minister said that there should be no fire accident in future in hospitals of all levels, hence a big meeting has been held in NHC today to keep all the hospitals of entire Uttar Pradesh as per the safe standards.

It was decided in the meeting that negligence will not be accepted under any circumstances. Today we are issuing a government order. We are going to re-conduct the fire safety audit of all the hospitals. Fire safety equipment will be audited. Arrangements will be made to keep the fire fighting system in good working order. A trained person will be present in each ward 24 hours, who can be a ward boy or paramedical staff. Every person will be present in the ward 24 hours a day for at least eight hours.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that instructions have also been given that if the electrical load is to be used more than the approved load, then the consent of the Electrical Safety Department and the Electrical Engineer will be obtained for this. Permission will be required before additional equipment can be used. Temporary wiring or extension boards will not be used in the hospital where patients stay, whether in ICU or ward. We will use only permanent wiring with appropriate switches and devices as per the respective ampere requirement. All work will be done in accordance with electrical safety standards. DG Health and DGME have been asked to submit their reports as soon as possible.

A road map will also be made for private hospitals. On this he said that we will also directly contact private hospitals with more than 50 beds and officials have been instructed that we will talk to them through video call. Instructions for the meeting have been given.

Let us tell you that recently a massive fire broke out in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Maharani Lakshmibai Medical College in Jhansi. 10 infants had died in the fire incident.
