New Delhi, 4 June (IANS). All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi have decided to set up a special center (AI-COE) for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Health Services. Both institutions have signed an agreement (MoU) for this.

Last year, the Ministry of Education gave a grant of Rs 330 crore under the ‘Make AI in India, Make AI Work for India’ scheme. This center will develop AI technology using this money.
This project was received by Prof. Chetan Arora will lead IIT Delhi. He said, “This center will create new technology, will train health workers and provide better health services to remote people. Our goal is to develop state -of -the -art AI Solutions to improve health services, provide better skills to healthcare providers and improve the access to quality healthcare for remote and marginalized sections of our population.”
Experts reported that it will serve as a major research and resource center at the national and international level and its objective is to bring revolution in the national public health system using indigenously developed AI systems and solutions.
IIT Delhi and AIIMS Delhi have previously worked together on several projects, including the Center for Advanced Research and Excellence in Disability and Assistant Technology (Care-DAT), which is working to develop auxiliary technology for persons with disabilities.
