Are you troubled by migraine? Know the causes, symptoms and remedies from the expert.

New Delhi, October 11 (IANS). Migraine is an extremely painful headache. Stress, hormonal changes, irregular sleep can be the cause of migraine. Dr. Bibhu Anand of the Medicine Department of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital spoke to IANS about its cause, treatment and prevention.

Doctor Bibhu Anand explains that migraine is a serious health problem, which is generally seen more in young women. During this time, pain is more severe in one part of the head, such as in the temporal or frontal side. This headache does not occur in the entire head. After all, what is the reason?

Trigger factors for migraine may include noise, sudden stress or continuous exposure to sound, causing the patient to experience a severe headache. The circumstances are such that it becomes difficult to even handle the patient. Then how to control?

Dr. Anand says, we advise patients not to take too much stress, maintain work life balance, and have a proper diet. He told that sometimes people stop eating and drinking properly due to excessive workload or are not able to get the required sleep, which increases the risk of migraine attack. Talking about its initial symptoms, patients complain of pain behind the eyes or in one part of the head. In such a situation, what to do if initial symptoms appear?

Doctor Bibhu Anand explains that to identify migraine, first of all the eyes have to be examined to ensure that there is no other cause. After this the electrolyte balance is checked. If all tests are normal, it is considered that the patient has had a migraine attack. Along with medications, lifestyle modifications are also very important in the treatment of migraine. Doctor Bibhu Anand told that ‘Naproxen’ tablet can be given to get relief from migraine, and another tablet ‘Naxdom’ in combination with Domperidone is also useful. But yes, use it only after consulting your doctor. Apart from this, it is also necessary to get enough sleep and exercise regularly.

The doctor also said that if lifestyle is not improved, migraine attacks may increase. Therefore, proper lifestyle and stress management is important, so that we can control migraine effectively. He said that sitting in one position for a long time and increasing screen time can also cause headache problems. When we concentrate on some work, the passage of CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) inside the brain gets affected, increasing the chances of headache. If we sit in the same position for a long time, like from 8-9 in the morning till 5 in the evening, and take a break only for half an hour or an hour, then the CSF does not flow properly.

He said that just as the mobile phone hangs due to excessive use, similarly if we overuse our body, it can cause problems like migraine. Stress is also like a termite, which gradually damages our body, which can cause problems like diabetes, hypertension, migraine and tension type headache.
