In today’s era, where problems like PCOS, irregular menstruation, hormonal imbalance and infertility are becoming normal, asparagus is not less than a natural medicinal boon for women. In Sanskrit it means “hundred husbands”, which reflects effectiveness on reproductive health. Asparagus is called the “queen medicine” of women in Ayurveda.
Its miraculous properties not only enhance hormone balance but also nourishes the body in a holistic manner. It is a shrubby plant and its root is mainly used. According to the Sushruta Samhita, it is considered a chemical medicine and is used in various forms. It is mostly used to promote breastfeeding, keep the uterus healthy and reduce menopause symptoms.
In Charaka Samhita, some parts of asparagus are told about eating like vegetables. According to the NIH report, the asparagus belongs to the Rasmosus Lilliecia family and is generally known as Satavar, Satmuli, Satavari which is found at low height across India. Dry roots of the plant are used as a medicine.
Asparagus is also considered useful for improving digestion, treating ulcers, and promoting immune systems. Modern research works to control asparagus to control female reproductive health, hormone balance and menstrual cycle. According to Ayurveda, asparagus has adaptogenic properties, which help to adapt to the stress of the body and consume it helps to balance the hormonal imbalances during monopause.
The use of a decoction made of asparagus relieves stress and also ends insomnia. Asparagus in Ayurveda is also beneficial in curing anemia. Asparagus is described in Ayurveda. Asparagus contains nutrients such as fiber, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, vitamin E and vitamin-C, iron, calcium, manganese and selenium, zinc, antioxidants.
Asparagus intake is a boon in the treatment of colds, colds, piles, fever. Consumption of decoction made from root of asparagus provides relief. Women also benefit from its consumption in problems occurring during menstruation. It also provides relief in pain, stress and cramps during periods. Asparagus strengthens the digestive system, which eliminates problems like constipation, vata, irritation. Nevertheless, medical consultation is recommended before consumption.
