New Delhi, 7 April (IANS). Union Minister of State for the Ministry of AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav started ‘Harit Yoga’ on Monday. Its purpose is to improve personal health and deal with environmental challenges.
‘Green Yoga’, which means a stability-operated initiative connecting yoga with plantation and cleaning campaign, is one of the 10 major events to mark the 11th edition of the International Yoga Day (IDY).
Addressing the media in the grand yoga festival 2025 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Jadhav said, “Our health is unwavering to the health of our planet. Just as yoga nourishes our mind and body, in the same way the plantation nourishes the earth, which ensures a greenery and healthy future for the coming generations.”
He said, “Yoga has gained unprecedented popularity in the last 10 years and has now become a global event.”
He also mentioned the durability and environmental aspects of yoga and associated Green Yoga with the point of view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Name of a tree mother’.
The Minister of State said, “This initiative encourages people to plant trees as a symbolic function to nurture personal and planetary health.”
He also highlighted the success of ‘Prakriti Testing Campaign’, in which more than 1.29 crore people were tested for nature and secured it in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Yoga Festival 2025 creates a platform for revolution in health and welfare, in which India is playing a leading role in making yoga a lifestyle worldwide.
On the occasion of the inauguration of this important program, Jadhav also planted medicinal plants along with other dignitaries. In this grand ceremony, more than 6,000 yoga lovers practiced the common yoga protocol – which aims to popularize yoga practice like yoga sleep, pranayama, meditation etc.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha praised the enthusiasts and said that the 11th edition of International Yoga Day would see a record -breaking global participation.
