In this season, people’s immunity may become weak, due to which the risk of fever, cold, cough and other infections increases. Therefore it is important that we take special care of our immunity.

A balanced diet is important to maintain immunity in winter. Experts advise that seasonal fruits should be consumed in abundance. It becomes important to include fresh fruits and vegetables in the diet, which are rich in vitamins and antioxidants.

Nutritionist Dr. Kanika Sachdev says, to maintain immunity during the winter season, one should consume foods rich in Vitamin C like orange, amla, papaya, capsicum, and strawberry. Consuming foods like carrots, sweet potatoes and spinach can also prove to be very beneficial.

Apart from this, consumption of Ayurvedic and natural substances like turmeric, ginger, garlic, honey, basil, and cloves is also very beneficial to boost immunity. The mixture of ginger and honey helps in preventing cold and cough. By drinking turmeric mixed with milk, the inflammatory process of the body can be reduced and the immune system can be strengthened.

According to experts, it is also important to take care of mental health in winter. Yoga, meditation, pranayama, and listening to light music can help reduce stress. Also, try to relax yourself and be happy from time to time.

To protect yourself from cold in winter, it is necessary to wear warm clothes and keep your body protected. If you’re going outside, wear appropriate clothing to keep your skin warm and dry. To avoid cold, wear mufflers, gloves and warm shoes, so that body temperature can be maintained. This helps in avoiding infection and disease.
