Sao Paulo, December 15 (IANS). Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva is now in good condition after a brain operation. This information was given in a medical bulletin.
According to Xinhua news agency, 79-year-old President da Silva is eating normally and walking normally in Sao Paulo’s Cirio-Libanes Hospital. Some tests of his blood will be done. But, there is no more test left.
According to doctors, the President’s condition is improving and it is expected that he will be discharged soon to return to work next week.
On Friday, the President shared a video on social media in which he is seen walking through the halls of the hospital, talking to a doctor and talking to his wife Rosangela da Silva. In a post on X, he wrote that he was feeling ‘strong and healthy’.
Let us tell you that Lula was admitted for emergency surgery after complaining of severe headache, when hematoma was found between his brain and meningeal membrane.
Doctors confirmed that the hematoma did not cause any injuries or other illnesses.
The case involved Lula’s fall at the Palacio da Alvorada, the presidential residence, in late October, when he was hit on the back of his head and required five stitches, forcing him to cancel his trip to attend the BRICS summit in Russia. The journey had to be canceled at the last moment.
Brazil’s Secretary of Social Communications Paulo Pimenta has confirmed that da Silva will run for re-election in 2026.
In an interview with CNN Brazil, Pimenta assured that the president is in good health after treatment for a brain hemorrhage. He said he was “the most qualified and prepared person” to continue leading the country.
