New Delhi, 23 April (IANS). The central government focused on rapidly pursuing 17 mega projects running in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Uttarakhand states with an investment of Rs 14,096 crore.
According to an official statement released on Wednesday, 19 issues related to these projects were discussed in a high-level meeting chaired by Amardeep Bhatia, Secretary, Department of Industry and Internal Trade Department (DPIIT), which focused on the immediate solutions related to the challenges related to advancing the project through inter-ministers and interstate coordination.
The review meeting organized under the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) was attended by senior officials of central ministries, state governments and project supporters.
The major projects reviewed include making the Jaunpur-Akbarpur road project four-lane, which costs Rs 3,164.72 crore.
The project includes two major issues in two functions packages, and it is important for improvement in regional contact and road infrastructure.
The meeting also emphasized the establishment of new ESI hospitals at several strategic places.
These projects are part of the Center’s efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.
Bhatia said that hospitals will improve access to quality medical care and contribute to regional development, which will help in the wrestling of workforce and their families.
Construction of Permanent Campus of NIT Uttarakhand in Sumari in Pauri Garhwal district was another major project, which was reviewed.
With the aim of strengthening the educational ecosystem of the region, it will provide the State-off the Art Educational and Administrative Environment for the Campus Institute.
Once commissioned, it is expected to increase the quality of technical education and research in Uttarakhand and promote local socio-economic development.
Bhatia reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthen the institutional structure for project monitoring and urged all stakeholders to adopt an active approach to resolve the issue.
The statement stated that he encouraged the private sector participants to actively join the PMG platform (https://pmg.dpiit.gov.in/) to expedite the project by taking advantage of the well -organized coordination with the government and other major institutions.
