Sugar patients have to take special care of their diet. A little carelessness about diet can be overwhelmed on health. Diabetes patients keep the level of glucose in the body, due to which they are forbidden to eat sweet. But many times sugar patients ask whether sweet fruits like chiku can be consumed in diabetes? In such a situation, we talked to Ayurvedic doctor and nutritionist Dr. Anjana Kalia in Bloom Clinics located in Dwarka. Let us know whether sugar patients can eat chiku or not?

Should diabetic patients eat chiku?

Dr. Anjana Kalia says that fruits are usually healthy for health but this does not mean that you can eat any fruit. Chiku is one of the fruits with medium glycemic index. Its glycemic index is between 55-65. That is, these fruits can increase the sugar level moderately. In such a situation, Chiku may not be the best option for diabetic patients, but still if your blood sugar level is controlled then it can be eaten in very small amounts. It is rich in fiber and is a good source of antioxidants such as flavonoids and polyphenols that can help prevent inflammation. But still diabetic patients should consult their doctor once by consuming this fruit.

Who should eat chiku?

Chiku is rich in fiber, which helps in digestion and prevents constipation. The fiber helps to maintain intestinal health by controlling bowel movements.

It is a good amount of calcium, phosphorus and magnesium, which is important for bone health. Consuming it strengthens bones.

Chiku contains vitamin A, which keeps the eyes healthy. It contains vitamin A and beta-carotene. These nutrients help prevent night blindness, maintain good vision and prevent age related eyes.

Chiku provides many benefits for the skin due to the high amounts of antioxidants and vitamin E. It helps to increase young form by reducing wrinkles, increasing collagen production.
