New Delhi, 15 May (IANS). Diabetes is becoming a serious health problem in India. Many people know that they should adopt the right catering, but they do not last for a long time. In such a situation, a research was done, headed by an Indian -origin researcher. This research found that if people are given a nutrition program online, then it can help reduce the rapidly growing diabetes problem in India.
Participants involved in research conducted by the US-based Physician Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) followed a doctor-directed and plant-based nutrition program. After which his health was seen to improve. The need for drugs was less felt, body weight decreased, blood sugar level improved and reduced cholesterol levels.
In a paper published in the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, the team said that this research is very useful for India, as 101 million adults in India are currently suffering from diabetes. In addition, there are 136 million people who are in a state of prideburies.
Dr. Vanita Rahman, an internal pathologist and writer with PCRM, said, “Diabetes crisis in India is such that it should be resolved within our health systems.”
Dr. Vanita Rahman said, “We know that diabetes can be effectively controlled by changes in catering. But it has been difficult to implement, because doctors have limited time, follow-ups are not possible properly, especially Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities do not reach facilities.
In this research, the common challenges that Indian patients face to change their lifestyle, such as patients do not get the right information or nutritional guidance easily. People often do not know where to start, what to eat, how to follow. Do not keep the change in lifestyle continuously etc.
76 patients suffering from type-2 diabetes were included in the 12-week online nutrition program, of which 58 patients completed the program. 22 percent of these participants reduced the dose of their diabetes drugs after improving health. On average, the participants weigh 3.7 kg (about 8 pounds). Blood sugar was also affected.
Rahman said, “These results are very useful in the context of India, because vegetarian and plant -based food has always been a part of our cultural food.” So by reducing the amount of fat, all the foods can be noted. Such nutritious and healthy eating is easily adopted in our Indian homes. ”
