Bhubaneswar, January 13 (IANS). Cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) are being seen in different states of the country. Odisha’s Public Health Director Dr. Neelkanth Mishra while talking to IANS said that there is no need to panic about this.
Speaking to IANS, Dr. Neelkanth Mishra said, “There has been a decline in its cases in India. So there is nothing to worry about. We are continuously monitoring this matter. We get reports from the national portal every day.
Talking about the state’s preparedness against this virus, the doctor said, “The state government and all of us are working in this direction. But there has been no significant increase in the number of cases. We will consult with all other experts in future also. We will take the next step as per their advice.
Health Director Dr. Neelkanth Mishra said, “The number of patients suffering from cough and cold increases in this season. But there has been no dangerous increase in cough and cold from any place in the district.
He said, “We have received information from WHO that the situation is improving in China also. So there is nothing to worry about.
Talking about measures to avoid this, he said, “The guidelines should be followed to prevent the spread of infection by taking precautions.” A person suffering from cough and cold should remain isolated. Should not come in contact with crowd. Hands should be kept clean with soap. Use a mask in crowded areas.
He further said, “If there is an immunocompromised person who is taking monotherapy, then naturally he needs to be careful about this virus. He should use a mask. The general public is not advised to wear masks.
