New Delhi, 3 June (IANS). The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has sent notices to the Delhi government and various agencies regarding the practice of pouring pigeons on pavement and roads in Delhi.
The NGT has issued notice to the Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) along with the Delhi government. This notice was issued after an application, in which the problem of damage caused by the dust of the pigeons with the dust of the dust stools was raised.
Armaan Palliwal, a student of the law applying, claimed that pigeons cause severe lung diseases such as hypersensitivity pneumonitis, causing wounds in the lungs and difficulty in breathing.
The application stated that due to feeding pigeons and increasing their number, they make bowel movements at pavement and traffic places, and when these food areas are cleaned, dried stool toxic particles are mixed with dust, which pollutes the environment and adversely affects health.
In his order passed on May 29 last, Justice Prakash Srivastava and expert member Dr. A. The bench of Senthil Well said that the application filed before the NGT has raised an important issue related to compliance with environmental norms.
The NGT, while setting the next hearing of the case for August 8, ordered that the defendants (authorities) be issued notice to file their reply through affidavit before the tribunal at least one week before the next hearing date through e-filing.
It also states that if a defendant-authority files the answer directly without sending the answer through his advocate, then the said authority will be virtually present to help the Green Tribunal. It further ordered that the applicant is instructed to serve other defendants and file a service affidavit at least one week before the next date of hearing.
The Green Tribunal under the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010 is responsible for handling matters related to environmental protection and conservation of forests and natural resources.
