New Delhi, September 17 (IANS). Dementia is a disease in which a person’s memory, language, problem-solving and thinking ability is reduced. Alzheimer’s is the main cause of dementia. In this disease, people start forgetting with increasing age. Due to this disease, people sometimes even forget their names.
Do you know that if you have diabetes, then this dangerous disease can happen to you too. Type 2 diabetes is considered to be one of the most dangerous types of diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is considered to be the most responsible for diseases like dementia.
According to experts, people who have type 2 diabetes are at the highest risk of developing dementia. Insulin does not work on type 2 diabetes, due to which the level of glucose in our blood increases. Increased glucose damages brain cells. Due to which the risk of dementia increases in a person who is suffering from type 2 diabetes. For this reason, people who are suffering from this disease have an increased risk of stroke as well as cardiovascular problems. Both these conditions affect the health of the brain, which increases the risk of dementia.
Type 2 diabetes can also cause inflammation in our brain, which helps encourage the development of dementia. Type 2 diabetes can cause the brain to lack adequate oxygen, which weakens brain cells. Some research has also found that diabetes can increase the accumulation of amyloid protein in the brain, which is associated with symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.
