Patna, March 27 (IANS). Doctors of government hospitals in Bihar have started a three -day strike from Thursday. Due to this, the services of treatment (OPD) of external patients across the state have come to a standstill. Doctors say that the government is not solving problems like their salary, security and lack of staff.
The strike can cause a lot of trouble to the patients. Especially to the patients of the villages, who depend on government hospitals.
The Bihar Health Services Association (BHSA) called a strike opposing issues like biometric attendance, administrative pressure and lack of employees.
However, the strike is limited to OPD services only and emergency and trauma services will continue normally.
According to BHSA spokesperson Dr. Vinay Kumar, there has been no response to the appeals made to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on important issues like doctors’ safety, salary, posting in home districts and lack of necessary facilities.
Dr. Kumar said, “The government is silent on our demands, so that we had to decide to leave work. We have decided to strike a three -day strike from Thursday.”
Doctors also mentioned an incident in Shivhar, where he was allegedly treated badly during a meeting with the District Magistrate.
OPD services have been discontinued at medical colleges, Sadar Hospitals, Referral Hospitals, Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Primary Health Centers (PHC) in all 38 districts of Bihar due to the strike.
Patients with pre -appointed appointments for surgery and treatment will have to re -decide their appointment after the strike is over.
A hospital official said, “Poor patients, especially those who come from villages, will be the most affected as they cannot afford private hospitals.”
The BHSA has warned that if the government does not find a concrete solution till March 29, then they will continue to boycott work.
