The famous English saying is about apple- “An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away.” This, which has been given to us since childhood, which is a direct meaning of a day, an apple eaten throughout the day has the power to keep you away from many diseases. But this has been heard since the time. A study across the seven seas has revealed that apart from apples, there is also a fruit which is wonderful in terms of health. It takes care of our ‘second brain’ i.e. gut (intestine).

Indeed, a healthy intestine helps you to digest your food and absorb its nutrients, strengthen immunity and reduce the risk of some chronic diseases.

But does the brain present in our stomach work so much? If you are thinking like this, then there is a need to stop a little and insist on the mind. If the stomach is pleased then it has a direct effect on the mood because about 90% of the body of your body and more than 50% of your dopamine – two important neurotransmitters are responsible for making you feel good – your guts are made in the intestine.

About 90% of the human body serotonin and more than 50% of dopamine are formed in the stomach. And the study related to the stomach and good mood was done by Harvard Medical School. His findings were published in the Microbiom magazine at the end of 2024.

This study was related to sour fruits and mood. Data of more than 30,000 women were analyzed. Based on the study, researchers found that women who consume a lot of citrus fruits are much less likely to develop depression than women who do not consume it.

In these fruits also a fruit was given a lot of attention. This fruit reduces the risk of depression by 20 per cent. He keeps your gut strong and boosts immunity. Harvard Medical School said in the Harvard Gazette, “We found that eating a medium -sized orange per day could reduce the risk of developing depression by about 20%.”

Research claimed that this happened only in the case of citrus fruits. This was not seen in terms of other vegetables and fruits.

Researchers in stool samples found that eating more citrus fruits leads to an increase in the levels of a beneficial gut bacterium (intestinal bacteria) called fecalibacterium prochemicals, known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Not only this, it can also help serotonin and dopamine to reach the brain.

A study published in 2022 found that depression problems increase in low sour fruit eaters.

The conclusion in the research also stated that his research was not about its effects on anti -depressive drugs because those drugs are usually used to treat depression.
