New Delhi, March 5 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that the vision of investing on people has three pillars – education, skills and healthcare. He urged all the stakeholders to come forward and invest more in these areas and said that it is necessary for the next phase of development.
Addressing a webinar on employment after the budget through video conferencing, PM Modi said that this year’s Union Budget is a blueprint for the future of the country. Investment has been given priority to infrastructure and industry as well as people, economy and innovation.
PM Modi insisted that capacity building and nurturing talent are the pillars of the country’s progress. It is essential for the economic success of the country and becomes the basis of the success of every organization.
He said, “There is a significant change in the country’s education system after several decades.”
He referred to major initiatives such as National Education Policy, Extension of IITs, Integration of Technology in the Education System and the use of AI’s full capacity.
Regarding efforts such as digitization of textbooks and availability of teaching materials in 22 Indian languages, the Prime Minister said, “These efforts made in the mission-mode have made India’s education system in line with the needs and parameters of the 21st century world.”
He said that since 2014, the government has provided skill training to more than three crore youths, upgraded 1,000 ITIs and five excellence centers have been set up.
He emphasized the goal of equipping the youth with training to meet the needs of industries.
Prime Minister Modi said, “Efforts are being made to ensure that Indian youth can compete globally with the help of global experts.”
The Prime Minister underlined the important role of industry and education in these initiatives and appealed to industries and educational institutions to understand and fulfill each other’s needs. He said that the youth should get a chance to walk with the rapidly changing world, get exposure, they get practical knowledge, for this all stakeholders will have to come together.
He said that the PM-Internship scheme has been launched to provide new opportunities and practical skills to the youth. In this initiative it is necessary to ensure maximum industry participation at every level.
Referring to the medical field, Prime Minister Modi referred to adding 10,000 new medical seats in this budget. The target has been set to add 75,000 seats in the medical field over the next five years.
