Chennai, 15 June (IANS). Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will inaugurate the first government hospital in Katipadi in Serkadu village in Vellore district on 25 June.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has constructed this hospital at a cost of Rs 14.30 crore and the final phase work is going on.
PWD Assistant Engineer K.K. Sundar (Katapadi Division) said that this 60 -bed hospital has modern facilities such as ECG, CT scan, and fully equipped operation theater.
The hospital has ensured uninterrupted power supply with the diesel generator. Currently, Katipadi has only one old primary health center (PHC), which except Sundays to 8 am to 3 pm. 500-700 patients are treated daily here. But most of these are referred to the unknown for special treatment.
Spread over 15 acres, this new hospital has different departments for cardiology, neurology, pediatrics, nephrology, maternity and gynecology. Special wards have been created for emergency, accident, cancer treatment, unconsciousness and radiology. Also, there are five consulting rooms for external patients.
Modern civilian facilities have also been included in the hospital. There are two lifts for patients and employees, drinking water and toilets on each floor, rainwater harvesting system and solar panels to illuminate the premises.
Apart from this, parking has also been arranged for both two -wheelers and cars and 24×7 monitoring will also be done through CCTV cameras.
Health department officials have said that public bus services will be extended to the hospital to ensure better connectivity for patients and visitors.
The inaugural program is in part of CM Stalin’s two -day visit to Ranipet, Vellore and Tirupattur districts on 25 and 26 June. During this time, he will also distribute welfare assistance to the beneficiaries of the government scheme and will also review the development projects.
At the same time, the local people have welcomed the decision to inaugurate the hospital and described it as a very important healthcare lifeline for the area.
Explain that more than 40 villages are included in the region and till now the residents had to go to the Government Medical College Hospital in Adukkampai on the outskirts of Vellore.
