New Delhi, 18 June (IANS). In today’s run -of -the -mill life, yoga works to relax both body and mind. If you want to start yoga with an easy, calm and focusing currency, then ‘Sukhasana’ is the best. As the name itself suggests- ‘Sukh’ means comfort and happiness, and ‘Asana’ means a special posture to sit. This asana is so easy that children or older, everyone can do it easily. This is the best posture for those starting yoga. This yogasan helps in keeping you stress free.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, doing Sukhasana increases strength in the body and mood is also good. It is very beneficial for both mind and body. When we sit in this posture, our mind calms down and stress decreases. Also, the muscles of the body also feel relaxed. This asana helps to take our breath correctly, which increases energy and feels freshness.
Sukhasana also benefits our stomach. When we sit calmly with a straight waist in this posture, there is a mild pressure on the stomach organs, which improves digestion. Sitting in this posture for some time after eating food can reduce stomach upset. Doing this asana helps in getting relief from problems like gas, indigestion.
When we sit in Sukhasana, there is a slight stretch in our knees and ankles. This stretch makes the body slowly flexible and strengthens the muscles. By doing this asana, the strength of the joints increases and their pain is reduced. The special thing is that Sukhasana is very comfortable, so it can be done for a long time. By doing this daily, the flexibility of the body increases and the mind also remains calm.
Doing Sukhasana strengthens our back. When we sit directly in this posture, our waist and spinal cord remains straight, which strengthens the back muscles. This also reduces the problem of back pain. Also, due to having a strong back, we are able to sit comfortably for a long time and there is also a balance in the body.
To do Sukhasana, first of all, sit upright on Yoga Matt and keep your back straight. Then bend your left leg from the knee and keep the right leg comfortably under the thigh. After this, bend the right leg and place it under the thigh of the left leg. Now place both hands comfortably on the knees, as if there is a meditation posture. In the end, close your eyes and breathe comfortably. Sitting like this while meditating on breath calms your mind and the body also feels relaxed.
