'Halasan' strengthens muscle, know five benefits

New Delhi, 3 July (IANS). Yoga is an integral part of Indian culture, which is an effective medium to improve physical and mental health. One of these important yoga postures is ‘Halasan’, which is known as ‘Plo Pose’ in English. Halasan not only provides flexibility to the muscles, but is also effective in strengthening the nervous system and relieving stress.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, regular practice of Halasan shows widespread improvement in physical and mental health.

‘Halasan’ is made up of two words ‘plow’ and ‘Asan’. The ‘plow’ is a traditional tool used for plowing fields in Indian agriculture. In this asana, the shape of the body is made similar to the plow, so it is called ‘Halasan’. In yoga scripture, each asana is named on the basis of its posture, and Halasan is also an example of this. This asana strengthens the neck, shoulders, back and abdominal muscles.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Halasan has many health benefits. It makes the muscles flexible and maintains the nervous system. It helps in reducing stress and fatigue, which brings mental peace. Additionally, Halason improves the function of the thyroid gland, which plays an important role in controlling metabolism. It also strengthens the immune system, which increases immunity. Regular practice of Halasan improves the digestive system and transmits energy in the body.

Experts explain what is the correct method of halasana? For this, lie down on the back and slowly move both legs from the top of the head to the ground. During this time, keep the hands with the body or support the back. Stop in this posture for a few seconds and take a deep breath. This asana should be practiced slowly and under the supervision of a yoga instructor, especially when started.

Halasan is very beneficial in terms of health. However, it is necessary to take some precautions while practicing Halasan. Pregnant women, people with high blood pressure or neck, back pain problems should avoid doing this asana. Expert should be consulted before starting.
