Gautam Budh Nagar, 26 May (IANS). Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Social organization Shiwings working for women’s health together have launched a special health and hygiene campaign called ‘Swasthi Nari, Khushal Desh’.
This initiative has been initiated before menstrual cleanliness day, which aims to provide better health facilities and awareness to girls and women from the deprived sections. Under this campaign, about 5,500 adolescent girls and women living below the poverty line have been included in Gautam Budh Nagar district.
Health check -up camps are being organized under the campaign, in which a large number of students and their mothers are participating. In these camps, women are sharing problems related to their health and specialist doctors are solving their problems. Shiwings has sent a team of gynecologists and general physicians to government schools and rural areas so that women from disadvantaged communities can get quality health services.
This campaign also has full support of District Magistrate Manish Verma and Basic Education Officer (BSA) Rahul Pawar. Both officers have instructed all government schools in the district to participate in this initiative, so that the impact of the campaign can be ensured to the ground level.
IOCL Executive Director Hemant Rathore said, “The improvement in women’s health can make positive contribution to the productivity and GDP. This initiative will not only bring health improvement, but will reduce the absence in schools and also promote the economic participation of women.”
Madan Mohit Bhardwaj, the founder of Shiwings, said, “Our goal is that no girl is left behind only in the absence of menstrual awareness or care.
This campaign is not limited to menstrual awareness only. It also focuses on problems such as breast cancer identification, prenatal care, nutrition, mental health, breastfeeding challenges and anemia.
