But do you know that these Ayurvedic herbs are also very beneficial for health. Hibiscus flowers are sweet and astringent in taste. In Ayurvedic texts, Durva grass has been called “Sahasra Virya”, which shows its many benefits. So, let’s know in which health related problems these two ingredients are effective?
Benefits of Hibiscus and Durva:
Hibiscus: Hibiscus has a cooling effect, reduces pitta and balances kapha. Due to its pitta-pacifying and anti-hemorrhagic properties, it is extremely beneficial in conditions like migraine, acne, acidity and ulcers. These flowers are also great for heart health and are effective in lowering blood pressure and cholesterol. Many disorders like anemia, piles, insomnia, UTI, etc. can be reduced by using them.
Durva: Durva is cold in nature, it is slightly sweet-astringent in taste and is easy to digest. Its consumption detoxifies the body and also increases immunity. Durva helps in weight loss. It is very beneficial for the skin. Reduces bleeding and pain and cramps during periods. It is good for dental health.
How to use Hibiscus and Durva?
You can use hibiscus in the form of tea. Add 5 hibiscus petals in a glass of boiling water. After boiling for 2 minutes, remove it from the gas. Filter it and drink it after it cools down.
Wash and clean a handful of durva grass, add few drops of water to it and make a fine paste. Taking one teaspoon of the paste in a glass of warm water daily provides energy and boosts the overall immunity of the body. One should not eat or drink anything for at least 3 hours after drinking durva juice. The grass can be dried and powdered. The dried powder can be taken mixed with honey or simply with water. Just soak a handful of grass in a cup of water overnight, boil it for 3-5 minutes the next morning, strain and drink the water in sips.
