People with high blood pressure (high BP) should avoid doing isometric exercises. While doing this type of exercise, heart rate and blood pressure increases. This is because keeping the muscles contracted for a long time hinders blood circulation, which causes blood pressure to increase. For people with high BP, doing isometric exercises can lead to cardiovascular problems.
