Paonta Sahib, 5 February (IANS). In view of increasing cancer cases in the country, facilities for cancer patients are being increased in government hospitals. In this episode, free treatment of cancer has been started at the Civil Hospital in Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh.
Cancer patients will get free treatment at Paonta Civil Hospital. 42 medicines will be given free of cost by the state government for the treatment of cancer, including the Testuzumab vaccine. The price of this vaccine is about 40 thousand rupees and this breast cancer patients have to apply 18 times a year. The state government will spend about Rs 7.20 lakh per annum per patient under this item.
Senior doctor of Civil Hospital, Dr. Piyush Tiwari said that Paonta Hospital is the most sensitive hospital in the district, where patients come from Uttarakhand for treatment. Now facilities for cancer treatment have also been started here, which will provide relief to the patients.
He said that a cancer department has been established in the civil hospital. A team of 60 doctors was first sent to get training in this regard. Now a team of 12 doctors has been sent. Under this, we will get training. Under this training, we will give chemotherapy to patients, so that they can be treated. There are some medicines regarding chemotherapy, which are now available. Earlier, patients had to go to other states for chemotherapy. But, now they will get chemotherapy easily in this state. Now they will not have to go to other states. We have trained nurses and doctors for this. We have now regularized it. For this, no patient will have to pay any kind of fee.
