A typical desi family eats two to three meals a day. There is no counting of the number of times one takes tea and snacks along with it. Is it okay to eat three meals a day?

Most people eat three times a day. Do you know that breakfast was not an important part of Indian food? Eating early in the morning was not common in India until the 14th century. The meal started only around noon and was followed by dinner. Which was lighter than lunch.

Therefore this method was best for him. As more Indians began to find work in fields, homes and factories. Eating habits changed. Which was once suitable for children, elderly or unhealthy people. That became a routine for many workers. Because he used to start his day with early breakfast. With the arrival of the East India Company in the 19th century, tea, coffee and breakfast became essential. This has become very important especially for the elite class people.

Is this the right way to eat?

Dubai-based culinary nutritionist and holistic health coach Ishanka Wahi says there is an old Indian saying, two times’ bread, two times’ food. Therefore, two to two and a half meals a day should be sufficient. This means that instead of three large meals, there should be two main courses with small snacks like nuts. For us Indians, food is a way of enjoying. But controlling food is very difficult for us Indians. When we eat food, we eat. It is very difficult to control carbs in this. India is largely vegetarian, with many people relying on pulses and dairy for protein. Lentils – the main protein source – contain more carbohydrates than proteins.
