Tokyo, 21 June (IANS). On Saturday, more than two thousand people attended Japan on the occasion of the 11th ‘International Yoga Day’. The event, organized at Tokyo’s Buddhist temple ‘Tsukiji Hongwanji’, was inaugurated by Yoshiko Ishiba, wife of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The theme of this year on Yoga Day was “Earth, Yoga for One Health”.
Indian Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George addressed the people present here, who had gathered in large numbers.
Satoko Ivaya, wife of Japanese Foreign Minister Ivaya Takeshi, was present on the occasion.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Reverend Myocaine Hayama of ‘Tsukiji Hongwanji’ and Reverend Tomohiro Kimura besides Joise Sibi, wife of the Indian Ambassador, were present. Apart from these, senior government officials, resident ambassadors and diplomats were also present here.
Earlier, the 11th International Yoga Day was observed in ‘Osaka Expo 2025’ in Japan on Friday.
The Indian Embassy in Tokyo posted on ‘X’, “India’s Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George and Osaka Province Lt. Governor Shigki Watanbe, inaugurated the ceremony. Thousands joined the collective yoga session.”
By its 11th year, ‘International Yoga Day’ has developed into a global event. India plays an important role in promoting peace, discipline and permanent life with the practice of yoga.
The theme of the year 2025 emphasizes the relationship between ‘one earth, yoga for a health’ Personal Well-Being and Planetary Health.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that yoga gives the world a direction of peace at a time when it is facing struggle, unrest and instability.
PM Modi urged the international community to mark this Yoga Day as the beginning of ‘Yoga 2.0’ for humanity, where inner peace becomes a global policy.
