Health News Desk- Indigestion means poor digestion. In Ayurveda it is called ‘Apacha’. The problem of indigestion occurs only when digestion is not happening properly. That is, after digesting what you have eaten, the body is not able to absorb its essence (juice of food). Or due to some other problem, juice and solid food are not separated. During indigestion there is usually pain in the upper part of the stomach. But this is not its only symptom. When there is indigestion, the body shows symptoms in many ways.

What is chronic indigestion?

Indigestion is not only ordinary but also chronic indigestion. This may happen due to some chronic disease or physical problem. Complete information about this can be given only after medical examination. For this the help of X-ray, blood test, stool test etc. is taken. After knowing the cause of the disease, to deal with this condition, medicines have to be taken and some things related to food habits have to be kept in mind.

What are the ways to avoid indigestion?

To avoid the problem of indigestion, first pay attention to your diet and lifestyle. If you are facing indigestion problem due to these reasons then it will get cured on its own. If the problem still persists then you should consult a doctor. Don’t overeat when you’re hungry. That is, avoid eating too much for the sake of taste.
If you have indigestion problem then avoid cold drinks and soft drinks. Drink desi drinks like buttermilk, lassi, lemonade and coconut water. Do not consume milk and juice.
Don’t wear too tight clothes. There is also problem of indigestion.
If you work sitting, then get up from the chair every 40 minutes and walk for 5 minutes or work while standing.
Never exercise after eating food. Consume milk at least two hours after eating food.
