New Delhi, 15 May (IANS). Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur have developed a smart track robot, which can detect the disease in the crop and also spray pesticides to promote farming.
A group of students from the Mechanical Engineering Department of the institute have successfully designed and developed the semi-automatic tracade mobile manipulator low agricultural robotic system.
The intelligent robotic system aims to identify the disease in plants and resolve the challenges faced by farmers in ensuring proper and safe pesticides.
Professor Dilip Kumar Pratihar, who led the research, proposed a tracked mobile manipulator as an idol solution.
Pratihara said, “The system has a serial manipulator, which resembles the human hand, which is placed on a tracked vehicle. It is specially designed for field navigation and accurate tasks.”
Drone based agriculture robot has gained popularity, but during flight they are not better in taking high-quality images of plants. It also has noise.
Researchers reported in the paper introduced during the 2021 IEEE 18th India Council International Conference (INDICON) organized by IIT Guwahati, “This tracked mobile manipulator can be used to fulfill many objectives in the agricultural sector, such as monitoring of plants, identity of plants, plants, sprinkling of plants, sprinkling, fruits, fruit, fruit, fruit, fruit, fruit, pesticides. The newly developed ground-based mobile manipulator uses camera-based image analysis to detect the exact disease, followed by automatic pesticide spraying.
The objective of the fundred robotic system by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is not only to reduce the health risks faced by farmers during manual pesticides, but also significantly increase food quality and agricultural productivity.
