New Delhi, 3 March (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday appreciated the emergence of Uttarakhand as a strong sports power in the country and emphasized India’s fast growing steps towards becoming a global sports superpower.
During the 119th episode of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi considered the recently concluded National Games in Uttarakhand, with more than 11,000 athletes demonstrating his talent. He said that the event gave Devbhoomi a new approach and this state is now making an important identity in Indian Games.
He said, “The National Games in Uttarakhand has proved that those who never give up, they definitely win. I am happy that with the determination and discipline of our young athletes, India becomes a fast global game superpower. Is moving towards. ” Expressing pride in the brilliant performance of Uttarakhand, the Prime Minister said that the state has finished seventh in sports, showing how sports not only shape individuals, but also change the entire community.

Congratulating the Seva Dal for winning the most gold medal, he also appreciated the individual athletes who performed separately in the competition.

During the address, PM Modi also highlighted an important health concern – obesity. Referring to the discussions at the opening ceremony of the National Games in Dehradun, he outlined the immediate need to deal with the growing obesity crisis in India. Citing the data of the World Health Organization, he warned that currently one in every eight people are influenced by obesity and the cases have doubled in recent years.
He said that even more worrying is that obesity in children has increased four times.
He insisted that excessive weight, heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure contribute to various health problems. However, he assured that this challenge could be addressed by small but important efforts. To pursue this initiative, he invited the Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, famous boxer Nikhat Zarine and noted cardiologist Dr. Devi Shetty to share valuable insight and strategies to prevent obesity.
The Prime Minister also urged the citizens to adopt healthy eating habits, especially by reducing the consumption of oil in his diet. He emphasized that making a conscious diet option is not only a personal decision, but a collective responsibility towards the family and society.
He encouraged people to make small but impressive changes in lifestyle to ensure healthy, fit and disease -free future.
He said, “Using less oil in food and dealing with obesity is not just a personal choice, but it is also our responsibility towards the family.
