New Delhi, 21 June (IANS). On Saturday on the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, Union Ministers said that apart from its benefits for physical health, yoga is also important for mental health and helps reduce stress.
International Yoga Day is celebrated globally every year on 21 June. It was first proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 and was immediately adopted by the United Nations, in which 177 countries supported it.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman participated in International Yoga Day at Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM) in Faridabad.
He emphasized this year’s theme ‘Ek Earth, Yoga for One Health’.
The office of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a post on X, “This theme highlights the relationship between human and health and echoes the global vision of collective welfare, which lies in the philosophy of India’s ‘Survey Santu Niramaya’ (all diseases free).”
Union Health Minister JP Nadda said in a post on the social media platform X, “Yoga ensures a happy and superior life by providing balance and health to our physical, mental and spiritual dimensions.”
On the occasion of the 11th ‘International Yoga Day’, he performed yoga with yoga lovers on the duty path in New Delhi and greeted everyone on ‘International Yoga Day’.
Union Minister Nadda said, “Yoga gained prestige globally with the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which results in the last 10 years that people all over the world have been aware of yoga and today they are adopting yoga in their daily life.”
In his address, Union Minister Nadda said, “Yoga means joint. It is a joint of body, mind, soul and brain.”
He further said that it connects the soul with God with physical and mental activity. Yoga is an expression of recognizing self.
