Both walking and running are beneficial for health. Such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack and other danger. In such a situation, the question also arises that which of the two can be more beneficial. According to the report of Indian Express, Consultant Neurologist of Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad, Dr. Sudhir Kumar says that it is difficult to answer whether it is better than running or vice versa.
Enthusiastic about fitness, Dr. Kumar said that running saves time. For example, it will take 6 to 8 minutes to run 1 kilometer, while it may take 20 to 25 minutes to walk 2 kilometers. If compared to the same time spent in walking or running or the same distance is made on the basis of the same distance, then more calories are burnt than running.
Is it better to walk or run?
Dr. Kumar says that running causes more improvement in cardiovascular problems. This VO2 is reflected in maximum, which is better than running than walking. However, there are some disadvantages of running. Dr. Kumar says, running puts more pressure on joints, tendons and ligaments and is therefore more likely to hurt than walking.
He further stated that people suffering from some co-starred knee osteoarthritis, obesity or severe heart disease cannot run, but can easily run. Dr. Kumar said that early or even older runners may find it easier to walk than running. Therefore, running and walking have their own advantages.
Which is more important?
Dr. Kumar said that it depends on the person what he wants. More than half of the world’s population recommended physical activity is unable to meet the goals. Therefore, it is important that you choose physical activity (walking or running) as per your personal choice and try to achieve the weekly physical activity target.
