New Delhi, 12 June (IANS). Many plants in Ayurveda are known for their medicinal properties. One of them is Priyangu, also known as Birmoli or Dhaiya in Hindi. This plant is full of qualities and has many health benefits.
According to Charaka Samhita, Priyangu has been considered useful mainly for balanced vata, bile, and phlegm defects. The scientific name of Priyangu is Calicarpa Macrophila Vahal. In English it is called fragrant cherry or beauty berry.
It is known by different names in different languages of India. In Sanskrit, it is known as Vanita, Priyangu, Lata, Shubha, Sumga. Birmoli in Hindi, Dhayiya, in Bengali, named Mathara in Marathi, in the name of Gahula in Marathi, in Tamil, in the name of Nalalu, Chimpopil in Malayalam, in Gujarati, it is known as Ghanula in Gujarati and in Nepali it is known as Dayalo.
According to Ayurveda, Priyangu is used in the treatment of stomach pain, diarrhea, dysentery and UTI. It is also beneficial in skin diseases such as itching, redness and boils. To know about which diseases Priyangu works as a medicine, first know about the medicinal properties in detail.
According to Charaka Samhita, Priyangu helps in relieving the tone of the facial skin, helps in healing the wound quickly. The use of Priyangu is also very beneficial in the treatment of tooth diseases. Rubbing the powder prepared on the teeth mixed with Priyung, Triphala and Nagarmotha provides relief in Sheetad (diseases related to gums).
In the bloodsar and bile diarrhea caused by imbalance in the diet, consuming the powder of Shallaki, Tinish, Semal, Plaksha Bark and Priyangu with honey and milk is beneficial. Apart from this, the powder of Priyangu flowers and fruit is also effective in indigestion, diarrhea, stomach pain and dysentery.
According to Ayurveda, Priyangu leaves, flowers, fruits and roots have the most medicinal properties. In the event of any disease, the advice of Ayurvedic doctor must be taken before using it.
