New Delhi, 18 June (IANS). Every year on June 19, ‘World Sickle Sale Awareness Day’ is celebrated. Its purpose is to make people aware of the disease called sickle cell anemia. It is a genetic blood disorder, which directly affects our blood red blood cells (RBC). In this disease, the number of RBCs in the body decreases, due to which the right amount of oxygen does not reach the body parts. In such a situation, problems like fatigue, pain and weakness can occur. If it is not treated on time, then this disease can also become dangerous.
In the United Nations meeting held on 22 December 2008, it was considered a serious health problem and all countries were instructed to make people aware of sickle cell disease every year. The purpose of this day is that more and more people understand this disease and know about the measures to prevent it.
The National Health Mission in Uttar Pradesh has launched a special campaign to eliminate sickle cell anemia. Under this, people are being made aware that this disease can be controlled through some caution and correct lifestyle. In this, it is very important to investigate timely, consumption of medicines, clean and nutritious food, and drink plenty of water. Also, it is beneficial to check sickle cell before marriage and during pregnancy. If we keep these things in mind, we can defend ourselves and our family from sickle cell anemia.
It is very important to adopt some important precautions for prevention and control of this disease. First, more and more water and fluids should be taken so that the body remains hydrated. Taking regular medicines with a doctor’s advice helps in controlling the disease. It is also necessary to have a screening of sickle cell of all family members, so that the disease can be detected in time. It is very important to keep a checkup with a doctor from time to time and keep an eye on the symptoms. In addition, the future bride and groom should investigate the sickle cell before marriage, so that there is no danger to the future child. Pregnant women must also get the sickle cell tested, so that the health of both mother and child can be taken care of. By adopting all these things, we can protect ourselves and our family from sickle cell anemia.
People suffering from sickle cell anemia are very important to avoid certain things. First of all, can avoid consuming foods with coaches closed, processed food and high salt foods. These things can be harmful to the body. Never stop medicines without consulting a doctor and always take medicines only on doctor’s advice. If any kind of symptoms are seen in the body, do not ignore them and get them checked immediately. Avoiding hard work and heavy exercise, as doing so can increase fatigue and pain. Avoid going out in scorching heat or bitter cold weather, as both conditions can affect the body. Also, stay away from drugs such as tobacco, gutkha, alcohol and smoking, as it can cause further damage to health.
