New York, January 11 (IANS). There has been a lot of loss of life and property due to the terrible fire in the forests of America. Meanwhile, a new study has come out regarding the fire in America.
This study has been conducted under the leadership of Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) in America. According to this, people who have limited access to air conditioning may be affected by health problems after exposure to wildfire smoke.
The study suggests that U.S. policies should prioritize equity and education so people can learn about ways to protect themselves from the harmful pollutants found in wildfire smoke.
“The impact of air conditioning smoke exposure on human health varies depending on the system and filter type,” said study lead author Dr. Jennifer Stowell, a research scientist in climate and health at the Boston University School of Public Health (BSPH). “California is perhaps the best example of this, with a larger and longer fire season. The next important step will be to identify ways to improve access to air conditioning.”
The study comes at a critical time as firefighters in Southern California are trying to extinguish wildfires that have been burning in and around Los Angeles County since last Tuesday (Jan. 7).
