Mumbai, 1 February (IANS). In Maharashtra, cases of Gilian-Baire syndrome (GBS) are constantly increasing. There is an atmosphere of fear and anxiety among the people. Now the Health Department has released a data related to Gilian-Baire syndrome (GBS).
According to the department, 140 suspected patients have been found so far, out of which GBS has been confirmed in 98 cases.
There have also been 4 suspected deaths during this period. There are 26 patients from Pune Municipal Corporation (MC), 78 from newly added villages of Pune Municipal Corporation, 15 from Pimpri Chinchwad MC, 10 from Pune rural area and 11 from other districts.
Right now 18 patients are on ventilator, who are kept under special supervision. The health department is constantly treating and monitoring patients.
Earlier on January 31, several GBS cases were confirmed in Pune, Maharashtra. In this regard, data was also released by the Health Department of Maharashtra.
According to Maharashtra State Health Department, 130 suspected cases of Gilian Barre Syndrome (GBS) have been identified as of 30 January. GBS has been confirmed in 73 of these cases. 3 patients have died.
Of these affected patients, 25 are from Pune Municipal Corporation area, 74 newly added villages, 13 Pimpri from Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, 9 from Pune rural areas and 9 other districts.
Currently, the condition of 20 patients is critical and has been kept on ventilator support. The health department is engaged in the care of the patients and the situation is being monitored.
Earlier on January 29, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had asked the administration to make special arrangements in government hospitals for the treatment of patients.
During the presentation given by the Public Health Department in the cabinet meeting, he reviewed the current ground level situation about GBS.
The Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement that GBS patients are being treated, but they have instructed that special arrangements should be made in government hospitals to provide proper treatment to the patients. Treatment of this disease is included in the State Health Insurance Scheme Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. If any other process is needed, it should be done by the Public Health Department.
