New Delhi, December 22 (IANS). The government on Sunday said more than 71.81 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) numbers have been generated (till December 22) and 46.53 crore health records have been linked to ABHA.
Additionally, there are more than 3.55 lakh healthcare facilities registered on the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HFR) and more than 5.38 lakh healthcare professionals registered on the HPR.
Over the past 10 years, the country has implemented transformative policies and initiatives that reflect a strong commitment to achieving universal health coverage.
An important milestone in this journey was the launch of ‘Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’ (AB PMJAY).
AB-PMJAY provides a health cover of Rs 5 lakh to each eligible beneficiary family every year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization for 1,961 treatments across 27 specialties.
As of December 17, AB PMJAY has made significant progress by issuing more than 36.28 crore Ayushman cards, providing health coverage to millions of people.
According to the health ministry, gender-wise usage shows that 49 per cent of the Ayushman cards issued are women and about 50 per cent of the total hospitalizations are women. This reflects the role of the scheme in promoting gender equality in healthcare.
Additionally, AB PMJAY has empaneled 30,932 hospitals across the country.
Another cornerstone of India’s healthcare achievements is Mission Indradhanush. It has expanded vaccination coverage under the universal immunization programme.
The ministry said that “Mission Indradhanush includes the provision of 11 types of vaccines to increase protection against preventable diseases. “A total of 5.46 crore children and 1.32 crore pregnant women have been vaccinated in all phases of Mission Indradhanush conducted so far in the country.”
These efforts have been underlined by significant improvements in key health indicators, showing the effectiveness of targeted healthcare strategies and interventions.
