New Delhi, September 6 (IANS). The body needs many types of minerals and vitamins. Zinc is the most important mineral for our body. If its count is correct then the effect of age will not be visible on the face!

The Government of India is running the National Nutrition Week from September 1 to 7. In this series, today IANS will tell you about the most important mineral zinc for the body. What exactly is zinc? How can its balance be maintained in the body and why is it important for us?

Zinc helps a lot in keeping our body healthy. This is a mineral that our body does not produce on its own but it can be replenished through a healthy diet.

By the way, this mineral works to make protein in our body which helps in making our DNA. If you have plenty of zinc in you, then believe me, you will not look old soon. Let us tell you that the human sense of smell depends to a large extent on zinc.

This is a mineral that the body can never store, that is why we need this mineral daily which is important for many things in our body. If there is a zinc deficiency in your body, then you will see certain symptoms, including loss of appetite, hair loss, lethargy throughout the day, bad taste in the mouth as well as irritability are the symptoms of zinc deficiency.

If we talk about its deficiency in children, then it directly affects their speed of development and their growth slows down.

The problem of infertility in men can increase due to its deficiency. Sperm production can decrease due to zinc deficiency. It also spoils the immune system of the body.

Zinc is also a very important mineral for pregnant women. Its deficiency can also affect the newborn.

To overcome zinc deficiency, you can include red meat in your diet. Apart from this, lamb meat, beef, pork and poultry can also be included in the diet.

Along with this, seeds also play a very important role in this. You will get plenty of zinc from pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, sesame seeds and flax seeds. Along with this, peanuts, almonds, pine nuts and cashews are also considered good sources of zinc.

Zinc deficiency can also be overcome by consuming dark chocolate. It is also found in vegetables like asparagus, peas and spinach. Apart from this, you can also overcome zinc deficiency by taking some supplements on the advice of a doctor.

According to a report, around two billion people around the world suffer from zinc deficiency.

According to a study published in the National Library of Medicine, every year around 4 lakh children under the age of 5 die across the world due to some or the other reason of infection caused by zinc deficiency.
