New Delhi, 4 July (IANS). The National Workhallics Day is celebrated every year on 5 July. This day is especially dedicated to those who are always busy with work and rarely find time for themselves. In simple language, it recognizes the hard work and dedication of those who give their work so much that they often ignore their personal life.
National Workhallics Day is to remind people of excessive working people that they should take time out and pay attention to other aspects of their life.
Workhallic usually work for a longer period and often works for a longer time than a 40 -hour normal functioning. It is normal for such people to work 50-60 or more hours a week. However, such working style can have severe consequences, such as stress, fatigue, burnout and lack of work-life balance.
It is very important to understand that commitment to work and hard work definitely gives success, but continuous overwork can lead to mental and physical fatigue, health problems and tension in relationships. It also often happens that such people face personal and emotional losses.
For example, people are encouraged to stop, consider their ways of working, consider and make some changes if needed, so that they can create better balance between work and personal life.
The concept of being functional has been present in human history for a long time. Although there are no official facts about the beginning of celebrating the National Workhallics Day, it is believed that it started during the 16th century. Some reports claimed that in the 16th century the Puritan community put the work as a social and religious duty and in this concept they first adopted ‘Workhallix Day’.
According to reports, in 1940, the word ‘Workhallic’ was used at some places, while Rodney Dangerfield popularized the word in 1968.
