There are many herbs in Ayurveda, which help our body to get rid of various problems. One of these is a special plant, Tejbal, also known as Tejovati. Tejbal is a shrubby and thorny plant, which is usually about six meters high. Due to its medicinal properties, it holds a special place in Ayurveda, and is considered effective in treating teeth, ears, stomach and many skin related diseases.

Tejbal plant is known by various names such as Tumbaru, Tumru, and Tejovati. Its properties are mentioned in detail in Ayurvedic medicine. It is rich in phlegm, vata reducing and bile enhancement properties. Tejbal wood is very hard, which is used to make drug grinding devices, such as khal pestle. In the Charak Samhita, chewing the bark of Tejbal is said to provide relief in toothache, which further increases its importance.
