During a visit to an Anganwadi center in New Delhi, Cooutinho said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is absolutely correct in his view of obesity.”

“We need to make children and adults aware of junk food, which is contributing to a big problem like obesity,” said.

He said that nutrition should start from an early age and education about nutrition should be imparted in languages ​​across the country.

He also emphasized the need to increase access to local superfoods such as coarse grains. We can maintain a natural balanced diet with these foods and get protein, carbohydrates and fat in balanced amounts.

He suggested “a reduction of edible oil consumption by 10 percent”.

Expressing support for the campaign against obesity, he said, “Everyone should take personal responsibility as an Indian citizen, should contribute, choose the right food, exercise daily and focus on his mental and emotional health.”
