New blood test expected Parkinson’s disease to be identified early

New blood test expected Parkinson's disease to be identified early

Jerusalem, 12 April (IANS). Israeli scientists have prepared a new blood test that can identify Parkinson’s disease before its symptoms.

Parkinson is usually identified when the brain is very damaged and mostly essential nerves are destroyed. Therefore, its early identity is very important.

According to the Xinhua News Agency report, this new method measures some special RNA pieces found in the blood. This study has been published in a magazine called ‘Nature Azing’.

Hebrew University (HUSU) of Jerusalem said that scientists have focused on two main indicators – a repetitive RNA order that accumulates in Parkinson’s patients. The second mitochondrial RNA, which decreases as the disease increases.

By measuring the ratio of both these RNA pieces, the investigation can show that the person is not starting Parkinson.

According to Professor Hermanona Sorec at Hebrew University, “This discovery gives a new dimension to the understanding of our Parkinson’s disease and provides an easy and low painful test method.”

He said that this test has given attention to a special TRF, which can identify the subtle changes that occur at the onset of the disease.

In experiments, this test was successful in identifying with 86 percent accuracy that people are affected by the disease before symptoms. This method proved to be more effective than other tests so far.

An interesting thing was also found that when patients were given a special treatment called ‘deep brain stimulation’, the level of first type of RNA particles decreased, which connects them with the processes of the disease and treatment.

Scientists say that this discovery can open the way for quick recognition and treatment of the disease in future, which can improve the lives of patients.

“This test will help in the initial identity of the disease and reduce the uncertainty of patients and doctors,” said Chief researcher Nimerod Mederr.
