Maihar, January 10 (IANS). Madhya Pradesh Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla, while talking to IANS on Friday, gave details of the state government’s preparations regarding HMPV. He said, “The people of the state do not need to worry about HMPV.”
Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla visited Maihar Civil Hospital. He reviewed health services. During this time he advised to be alert from HMPV.
He said that the state government is fully prepared to deal with HMPV. There are adequate arrangements in our hospitals. The central and state governments are keeping an eye. Advisories are being issued and health workers have been informed. If needed, instructions have been given to make arrangements in the emergency wards of hospitals.
It is noteworthy that cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) are gradually increasing in the country. The Health Department of the Government of India is on alert mode. Recently two cases were reported from Maharashtra.
Let us tell you that regarding HMPV, experts believe that there is no need to panic about it. The government has asked all the states to exercise caution and vigilance regarding this.
Doctors believe it is mainly associated with mild respiratory diseases. Recently, a case of a three-month-old baby was found in Karnataka, who was infected with it. The child was also discharged from the hospital. This case shows that the resulting disease generally causes mild symptoms. However, children younger than one year, people above 60 years of age, and those with weak immune systems and those already suffering from many diseases need to take more care. These people come in high risk group.
Its symptoms include cough, fever, nasal congestion and difficulty in breathing. At the same time, in severe cases, hospitalization along with oxygen therapy and ventilation may also be required.
