Bhubaneswar, 11 June (IANS). In view of the outbreak of diarrhea in Jajpur district of Odisha, the Health and Family Welfare Department started a campaign on a war footing in the district on Wednesday. So far, three people have died of this disease.
Health Department Secretary Ashwathi S said, “After receiving reports of people affected by diarrhea from Jajpur district, we have formed a state-level multi-regional team of doctors, microbiologists, food safety inspectors and sent them to Jajpur. They have reached there and started investigating to find out the cause of outbreaks.”
He further said that additional teams of doctors have been sent to the district for the treatment of patients admitted to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital and other peripheral hospitals.
Neelkanth Mishra, director of public health services, also reached Jajpur. They will in collaboration with all the concerned parties to ensure coordinated efforts to control the outbreak of sudden diarrhea in different parts of the district.
According to the official statement issued by the Health Department, various teams are working in the affected and surrounding areas of Dharamshala, Vyasnagar Municipal Corporation, Danagadi, Rasulpur and Korei blocks in Jajpur district. The teams formed at the state and district level are closely monitoring the ground situation.
Director of Public Health Services said that quick action is being given by quick action teams constituted at the district level on all patients and sporadic matters in the surrounding places.
The state government has advised people to take all precautionary measures. He advised people to avoid eating outside food, drink clean water and pay attention to cleanliness.
According to the district administration, more than 200 patients have been admitted to various hospitals of the district in the last two days, while two people from Jajpur district and one person from Anandpur in Jajar district have died so far.
