Srinagar, Aug 29 (IANS) Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, patients in Jammu and Kashmir will be able to get treatment in private hospitals. Private hospitals cannot refuse treatment to patients.
Private hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir had decided not to provide treatment to patients under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. It was said that this facility will not be available in private hospitals from September 1. The Jammu and Kashmir High Court took cognizance of this decision of the hospitals. While hearing a petition, the court has asked private hospitals to continue providing treatment to patients under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Actually, private hospitals recently took a decision. In this decision, it has been said that they have several crores of rupees in dues to IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company, which has not been paid to them. Due to which there is a huge financial burden on the hospitals.
While hearing the petition, the court made this remark. Along with this, it has directed the private hospitals to continue providing treatment to the patients in the hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) provides an annual health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh to card holders. The scheme was launched with the aim of providing quality healthcare and improving healthcare facilities to the residents of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Under this scheme, health coverage is to be provided to eligible beneficiary families through a network of empanelled healthcare providers (EHCPs). The Government decided to implement this scheme to provide health insurance to defined categories of eligible families in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
It is known that lakhs of people have benefited under the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Jammu and Kashmir. The government has linked 250 hospitals under this scheme. These include private hospitals as well. According to the data, 69.85 lakh beneficiaries have been registered.
Let us tell you that in the year 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had started Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana Sehat under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme for Jammu and Kashmir.
