Varanasi, October 20 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched projects worth Rs 6,100 crore in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi. These also include the inauguration of RJ Shankar Eye Hospital built at a cost of Rs 90 crore.
PM addressed a gathering at the inauguration of RJ Shankar Eye Hospital in Varanasi. He said, “Coming to Kashi in this holy month is an opportunity for a virtuous experience. Not only are the people of Kashi here, we are also in the company of saints and philanthropists. What could be a more pleasant coincidence than this. Right now, I have the darshan of the most revered Shankaracharya Ji. I have had the good fortune to receive Prasad and blessings.”
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi further said, “RJ Shankar Eye Hospital will remove darkness from the lives of many people of Varanasi and this region, taking them towards light. This hospital will also serve the elderly and provide light to children as well. A large number of poor people are going to get free treatment here. This hospital has brought employment opportunities for the youth here.
He said, “Kashi has been recognized as the capital of religion and culture since time immemorial. Now Kashi is also becoming famous as a big health center and healthcare hub of Purvanchal, UP. Kashi has been known for religion and culture since ancient times. Kashi has been known as the capital of culture, be it the establishment of Trauma Center or Medical Colleges in BHU. There have been major improvements in healthcare in Kashi in 10 years.”
The PM also met the Shankaracharya of Kanchi Math before the inauguration of the hospital. He visited an exhibition. During this, Governor Anandiben Patel and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present with him.
Let us inform that during his one-day visit to Varanasi, Prime Minister Modi is also going to lay the foundation stone of the new terminal building and other works of Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport built at a cost of Rs 2,870 crore.
