New Delhi, March 31 (IANS). People using antidepressant drugs for a long time may have a sudden risk of having heart rate. A study has found that this danger depends on age and duration of drug taking.
Suddenly stopping cardiovascular means a person’s unexpected death, which is due to a heart related problem. If this happens in front of someone, the symptoms may die within an hour of appearance.
The study conducted on 43 million residents of Denmark showed that those who take antidepressants from 1 to 5 years are 56 percent higher at the risk of sudden heart rate. At the same time, this danger is 2.2 times more for those who use these drugs for 6 years or more.
In people between the ages of 30 to 39, who took antidepressants from 1 to 5 years, the risk of sudden heart rate was about three times higher than those taking medicines. This danger increases by five times in those taking drugs for 6 years or more.
In people between the ages of 50 and 59, who take antidepressants from 1 to 5 years, their sudden risk of stopping heart rate is doubled. And for those who take medicine for 6 years or more, this danger is four times more.
Dr. Jasmine Muzkanovic, who is from Copenhagen, Denmark’s Rigsopitlet Heart Center, said, “The longer the duration of antidepressant, the longer the risk of halting cardiovascular stop, and it depends on how long the person has taken the medicine.”
He further said, “Those who take medicines for 6 years or more, the danger for them is even more than those taking drugs from 1 to 5 years.”
Researchers reported that this problem in people under 39 years of age is often caused by problems related to thickening of the heart muscle. In the bujars, the narrowing of the veins that deliver blood to the heart are the main cause. The study was presented at the Scientific Conference EHRA of the European Society of Cardiology.
Muzkanovic said that the risk of sudden heart rate stopping may be due to the potentially harmful effects of the antidepressant and the duration of drug taking. In addition, “This increase may also be affected by depression -related behavior or lifestyle factors, such as healthcare delay or poor heart health. It requires further research.”
