New Delhi, September 14 (IANS). Are you also among those people who make faces on seeing pumpkin or kumhra or kadima, then believe me you will be surprised to know about its seeds. Pumpkin seeds are rich in good fats, magnesium and other nutrients and take care of every part of the body. Be it a soft heart or hard bones.

These seeds are also rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants like selenium and beta carotene. Additionally, they are a high source of iron. According to doctors, one cup of pumpkin seeds contains 9.52 milligrams (mg) of iron. 18 mg is recommended for premenopausal women and 8 mg for postmenopausal women.

Pumpkin seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, magnesium and zinc. These take care of the heart. Taking them on an empty stomach in the morning has miraculous benefits. It not only controls cholesterol but is also helpful in keeping blood pressure normal.

Its seeds have many anti-inflammatory properties which make it special. It works to reduce inflammation in the body. By eating it, the metabolism level of the body remains maintained.

One most important thing is that these days many problems arise due to lifestyle. The stomach has to bear the brunt the most. Constipation is one of them. If you are also facing something similar then pumpkin seeds are a boon for you! This is what health experts say. These seeds are rich in fiber. Which helps in keeping the digestive system healthy and gets rid of the problem of constipation.

It also helps in meeting the deficiency of blood in women, as it is rich in iron. Consuming these seeds on an empty stomach in the morning can prevent anemia. Antioxidants like flavonoids and phenolic acids are found in these seeds. Which are very beneficial for the body and skin.

Now the most important question is how to eat them? People can eat pumpkin seeds for breakfast or they can also be used to enhance the taste of any dish. Apart from this, they can also be eaten in salad, as a mixture of homemade granola i.e. nuts and dry fruits. So eat as you like because good health is important and yes, next time when you see a pumpkin, do pick it up lovingly and bring it home because its seeds can also be dried and roasted at home and eaten.
